The benefits of matcha and lavender in one hydrating hit!
Tried and tested ( on a newbie to matcha....my husband!)
it got a BIG thumbs up!
I wanted to introduce my husband to Matcha because of its health benefits and as he is new to this type of green tea, I thought it may be a little too much for him on its own for his first introduction (he has traditional tastes), so what better way to try than to make a lemonade with it?
I doubled up on the syrup recipe so I could keep it in the fridge for 4 weeks.
How to make -
Lavender Syrup
2 tsp dried lavender
2 butterfly pea flowers
1 cup sugar
Other Ingredients (per person)
1 tsp matcha
1-2 lemons juiced
2oz Lavender Syrup
Sparkling water
Ice
Make Lavender Syrup
Add the lavender and butterfly pea flowers to a teapot or cup with a strainer
Add 1 cup of boiling water and let it steep for 5-10 minutes
Strain and add sugar and dissolve
This keeps for 4 weeks in the fridge
Make the Drink
In a bowl - Add matcha to 80º C water and whisk - leave to cool
Fill up a glass with ice
Add 4 parts sparkling water
Add 1 part lavender syrup
Add 2 parts lemon juice
Add 1 part matcha tea
Mix well and enjoy!
Just to note - do not put it in a flask - I did this and the lid popped off and exploded everywhere! Amazing smell, but the green look wasn't too good!
