We all love a hot, tasty, aromatic and refreshing cup of tea – good for the mind and soul and it makes the world a better place – but even better to know that it is also proven to be good for the body! Tea has so many health benefits! Not all "tea' drinks contain tea - some are herbal drinks (tisanes) that also have incredible health benefits. We sell a wide range of teas and herbal drinks which all offer health benefits.
It is also a great option if you are looking for a low-calorie, non-sweetened beverage with less caffeine than coffee or energy drinks. Be aware though, that the health benefits come from pure good quality tea which we guarantee at Happy Leaf.

In China, around the 16th century, tea started as a medical drink for patients to control bleeding, heal wounds, aid digestion, improve heart/mental health and regulate body temperature. It's also known that the use of green tea for lowering bad cholesterol (LDL) is very significant.
Heart Health - Black tea contains flavonoids, which are beneficial for heart health. Studies have found that regularly drinking black tea may help reduce the risk of heart disease. Black tea contains a group of polyphenols that have antioxidant properties. Consuming antioxidants may help decrease the risk of chronic disease and improve your overall health.
Slimming – A study examined the role of catechins from green tea extract on body weight. It found that those who consumed a bottle containing 690 mg of catechins from tea on a daily basis for 12 weeks showed a decrease in body fat. Recent studies in Japan suggest that Oolong or Wu Long teas are super-efficient at burning fat and have been used with great success as a slimming aid when drunk with food.

Digestive – good for the gut! Oolong teas are considered great digestive teas by the Chinese. In addition, black tea contains antimicrobial properties that kill off harmful substances and improve gut bacteria and immunity by helping repair the lining of the digestive tract. Mint tea and Tisanes are also excellent for this.
Reduce Cholesterol - Black tea is a great non-sweetened beverage that has been found to help enhance the use of insulin in the body. LDL and HDL are two types of lipoproteins that carry cholesterol throughout the body. Too much LDL in the body can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Studies have found that black tea may help reduce LDL levels.
Energy Boost - opt for a Ginseng-infused tea which will give you a boost for the day! For thousands of years, Chinese Ginseng is added to teas, drunk alone as a tonic and chewed on to boost energy and enhance overall health. Yerba mate is also excellent for boosting energy.
Cancer - There has been a great deal of research done on tea and cancer cells. As always, full research and chats with your G.P are essential.
Eczema improvement - There is evidence to suggest that drinking Oolong tea has beneficial effects on Eczema.
Improved Focus and Alertness - Black tea contains caffeine and an amino acid called L-theanine, which can improve alertness and focus. L-theanine increases alpha activity in the brain, resulting in relaxation and better focus.
Low in caffeine – white teas are considered higher in antioxidants than green tea. They are also lower in caffeine.
Stress Relief - Ginseng is said to help alleviate stress and improve stamina. Linden Flowers, Chamomile and many other herbal tisanes are great for this. Try my 'Relax Your Mind' blend for a fabulous tisane.
